"50 WINTERS LATER" CONCERT
On February 2 Kenny joined an all-star house band for the 50 Winters Later concert, part of a weeklong series of events to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Winter Dance Party, where rock and roll pioneers Buddy Holly, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Ritchie Valens played their final concert on February 2, 1959.

Presented by The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Surf Ballroom & Museum, the concert featured Kenny and bandmembers Hutch Hutchinson, Bobby Keys, Chuck Leavell and Dan Neale performing with artists including Graham Nash, Dave Mason, Joe Ely, Delbert McClinton, The Crickets, Peter and Gordon, Bobby Vee, Wanda Jackson, and Tommy Allsup.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recently added the Surf Ballroom to its list of designated rock 'n' roll landmarks.

KENNY PERFORMS AT OBAMA INAUGURAL CELEBRATION CONCERT
Kenny was behind the drum kit for a nationally televised concert, “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial" on Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Washington, DC.

President Obama and Vice President Biden were in attendance and spoke at the event, which was free and open to the public. As part of the backing band led by music director and arranger Rob Mathes, Kenny performed with Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, James Taylor, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Bettye LaVette, Jennifer Nettles, Usher, Shakira, will.i.am, and others.  Among those reading historical passages were Tom Hanks, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington.

The concert was broadcast on HBO.

Two new John Fogerty releases are due out in 2009. Both feature Kenny on drums and include a new album, titled John Fogerty: The Return of The Blue Ridge Rangers, and the DVD John Fogerty: Comin' Down the Road. The DVD chronicles Fogerty's 2008 concert at London's Royal Albert Hall, as well as his life and career. An exclusive video preview can be seen on JohnFogerty.com.

"JOHN MELLENCAMP: HOMEWARD BOUND" SPECIAL REAIRS THURSDAY, JANUARY 22
The Biography Channel documentary special "Homeward Bound: John Mellencamp" will be re-aired on Thursday, January 22, 2009. The 90-minute program visits Mellencamp’s hometown of Seymour and features  interviews with band members including Kenny, as well as childhood friends and other key people in his life, along with archival footage, personal photos, and bonus concert performances.  According to producer Anthony Uro, the documentary “really gives viewers an in-depth look at the John Mellencamp most people don’t see, because it’s not only about John, the successful rock star, it also paints a very detailed picture of John’s early life and career before he was famous, and the people, places, and events that shaped him as a person and as an artist.” For more information visit Biography.com.

20TH ANNUAL GUITAR CENTER DRUM-OFF - JANUARY 10, 2009
The 2008 Guitar Center Drum-off finals were held Saturday, January 10 at the historic Music Box at Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Kenny was among the judges along with Taylor Hawkins, The Rev, Danny Carey, Trevor Lawrence Jr., Drew Hester, Atom Willard, Alan White, and Frank Zummo. Candidates from a field of 5,000 survived contests at hundreds of Guitar Center stores across the country to compete at the finals, and Jerome Flood II was crowned the winner. The evening was hosted by Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, and featured performances by Jason Bittner, Nicko McBrain, Thomas Pidgeon, Thomas Lang and Papa Roach. WALTER TROUT CD NOMINDATED FOR BLUES MUSIC AWARD
Walter Trout’s critically acclaimed 2008 release The Outsider has been nominated by The Blues Foundation and the Blues Music Awards for Rock Blues Album of the Year. The album features 13 Walter Trout originals, with a backing band including Kenny along wih bassist Hutch Hutchinson, pianist Jon Clearly, and Skip Edwards. The 30th Blues Music Awards will be held May 7, 2009 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center in downtown Memphis, TN.


2008 KENNEDY CENTER HONORS - TUESDAY, DEC. 30 ON CBS-TV
Kenny performs at the 2008 Kennedy Center Honors Gala airing on CBS-TV on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 (9 PM eastern). As part of an all-star band in a tribute to Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry of The Who, he performs with singers Joss Stone, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, Rob Thomas and Bettye LaVette. And in a tribute to George Jones he performs with Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Shelby Lynne, Brad Paisley, and Randy Travis.

Also receiving the Kennedy Center Honors at the gala held on December 7 in Washington DC, were Morgan Freeman, Barbra Streisand, and Twyla Tharp..  The Honors gala is the Kennedy Center's most important annual fundraising event, supporting its performing arts, education, and outreach programs.
